Sherry Holzapfel, a proud Yidinji woman with cultural ties to the Kuku-Thaypan, Gungarri, and Butchulla tribes, is Metro North Health’s Executive Director for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. A two-time graduate of the University of Southern Queensland and the University of Newcastle, Sherry has extensive experience in Queensland Health and senior roles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations. Sherry led the launch and implementation of the Health Equity agenda within Metro North Health, including the role out of multiple key statewide initiatives improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and remains committed to achieving life expectancy parity by 2031.
