As Director (ASET) has led the re-positioning of Cancer Institute NSW Aboriginal Ways of Working occurring across the Institute including the development of Aboriginal Governance Framework and Aboriginal Cultural Safety Principles to align the Institute with NSW Ministry of Health Aboriginal Governance, Shared-Decision Making and Accountability Framework as part of the NSW Health Aboriginal Transformational Agenda. Anthony has built his cultural knowledge from the ground-up working in and with Aboriginal People, Providers and Communities including Remote, Regional and Urban Environments, with almost 40 years in the Aboriginal Sector that includes 30 years in Aboriginal Health.
As well as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) Limited led the Aboriginal Justice Portfolio, in the development of NSW Closing the Gap Implementation Plan 2022 – 2026 with a particular focusing being on establishing Local Aboriginal Justice Partnership Agreements and Local Aboriginal Community Closing the Gap Action Plans.As the Institute’s Director, ASET has also guided the development of 1st NSW Aboriginal Cancer Strategy 2025 – 2027 which is foundational, focusing on the infrastructure and instruments required to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer on Aboriginal People in NSW. A key component of the Strategy involves collaborating with Health Agencies across NSW in the development of Local Aboriginal Cancer Implementation Plans that will allow the Institute to be able to deliver an Annual NSW Aboriginal Cancer Report and laying the foundations for the next NSW Cancer Plan.
